How to Recycle Electronics in Malaysia (Step-by-Step)
Got old phones, laptops, or appliances gathering dust? Here is exactly how to recycle them in Malaysia — safely, for free, and with zero hassle.
The 5 Steps
Back up your data
Before anything else, move your files, photos, and contacts to a new device, external hard drive, or cloud service. Once a device is wiped or recycled, recovery is not possible.
Wipe your device
Factory reset phones and tablets. For laptops, use the built-in recovery option. For hard drives being removed separately, use free tools like DBAN or Eraser to overwrite all data. If this sounds complex, Again offers certified data destruction — we handle it for you.
Gather all your e-waste
Include cables, chargers, peripherals, and old appliances. There is no minimum quantity for Again pickups — one phone or a whole IT room, we collect it all.
Schedule your free pickup
Fill in the pickup form on again.eco. We serve Klang Valley and Selangor. We will confirm a time within 24 hours and collect from your door.
Receive your Certificate of Recycling
Within 3 business days you will receive a certificate confirming the weight and type of e-waste recycled. Businesses can use this for ESG reporting and compliance audits.

Why Not Just Throw It Away?
Dumping electronics in regular rubbish bins is illegal under Malaysian law for businesses and irresponsible for households. E-waste contains lead, mercury, cadmium, and brominated flame retardants — all of which leach into groundwater at landfill sites.
Beyond the environment, improperly discarded devices are a data security risk. Personal data on unwiped devices has been recovered from secondhand markets and illegal scrap yards.
